In the middle of the Arctic summer, a farmer makes a terrible discovery not far from Kiruna, a town on the Arctic Circle.

As the deceased was French, a Parisian investigator, Kahina Zadi, captain of the Central Office for the Repression of Violence against Persons, was sent to the scene.

She joins forces with Rutger Burlin, a respected member of the local police, and works with him under orders of Prosecutor Anders Harnesk, a very reserved man.
Kahina Zadi is excited with this mission: by coming to Swedish Lapland, she hopes to escape a difficult personal situation.
