A thousand months

Morocco, 1981, the month of Ramadan.

Amina moves in with her stepfather, Ahmed, and her seven-year-old son, Mehdi, in a village in the middle of the Atlas Mountains.

While his father is in prison, Mehdi thinks that his father has gone to work in France: his mother and grandfather keep this secret to preserve him. At school, he has the privilege of looking after the teacher’s chair.

His relationship with the village, his friends and the world is built around this object.

Saving Mehdi is Amina and Ahmed’s main preoccupation, but at what cost?
